Project DAWN: Empowering Our Comumunity to save Lives

Join us in the fight against opiate overdoses. Learn how our Project DAWN Program helps save lives by educating our community about overdose prevention and Narcan Administration

What is Project DAWN?

Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone) is a community-based overdose prevention initiative that aims to reduce opiate-related deaths by providing education and training on the signs and symptoms of opiate overdoses and the proper administration of the life-saving medication, Narcan (Naloxone). Our program is committed to empowering community members to act in emergencies and save lives.

The Importance of Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training

Opiate overdoses have become a growing concern in recent years, and it's crucial that we, as a community, learn how to recognize and respond to these life-threatening situations. Narcan is a safe and effective medication that can reverse the effects of an opiate overdose when administered promptly. Community members can make a significant difference and save lives by learning how to identify an overdose and administer Narcan.

Community Resources for Naloxone Distribution

Access to naloxone is a crucial component of our community's efforts to combat opiate overdoses. Below is a list of resources and links to help you locate naloxone distribution sites and additional information.

Sandusky County Public Health: Visit https://www.scpublichealth.com for information on free naloxone distribution programs in our area, as well as educational materials and support services.

Sandusky County Public Health currently has installed 24 NaloxBoxes in publicly accessible areas in buildings across the area. These boxes equip Ohioans with the tools needed to effectively respond to an overdose using naloxone, a life-saving drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. Just as an AED Box allows access to early defibrillation, NaloxBoxes allow for early administration of Naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose. One or more of these can be found at:
